iSportsman’s HazRDS Reveal at NAWNRC Produces Insightful Discussion for Broader Applications
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – iSportsman attended the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference (NAWNRC) where both the National Military & Wildlife Association (NMFWA) as well as the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AWFWA) conferences were held in conjunction in Spokane, Washington, March 14-18. Along with the exciting opportunity to meet clients, showcase product updates and celebrate milestones, iSportsman also had the opportunity to publicly reveal the HazRDS tool as a driver for community engagement that results in safer recreation experiences.
HazRDS was created to give clients a tool that encourages engagement from their broader community to support conservation goals. This is accomplished by offering a web-based platform open to the public so they can help identify hurt or deceased wildlife or report dangerous wildlife encounters or other dangers to public wellbeing. By showcasing the innovative successes of current HazRDS users—such as Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) in New Jersey which used HazRDS to report and record the discovery of Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) within their program, as well as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California which utilized HazRDS to report a staggering 565 wildlife conflict incidents in 2021—iSportsman was able to prove level of engagement, efficiencies and the versatility of the HazRDS tool to meet the needs of a multitude of programs.
By making data collection simple and accessible to an open or defined group, HazRDS can help streamline the day-to-day tasks for persons responsible for the safety and wellbeing of recreationists and wildlife. Highly customizable geo-forms, with simple drop-down menus and data point entry, allow a way for biologists to visualize and understand the geographic context of wildlife data as well as allowing a way for users to identify public hazards in the field using real-time geodata technology.
“The real-time, face-to-face feedback received at the North American helped iSportsman to demonstrate the full scale of the HazRDS tool capability,” says Aneil Kumar, CEO of ASciS Solutions, the innovators of HazRDS and iSportsman. “While we are proud to provide HazRDS as a safety preventative measure, we are also excited by the new opportunities to apply this technology.”
From migrant bird spotting, flora growth pattern identification and native species boundary tracking, HazRDS can do more than just identify a hazard; it can help pinpoint and track any ecological landscape into customizable GIS data.
